All hospitals should - "Observe clean&green".

Every year 5lac children are dying due to unhygienic habits like open defecation. Every year 5lac incidents of atrocities on women due to polluted mindset. Every year lacs of piligrims are in dire straits, lacs of cows dying- due to throwing away of plastic garbage in river beds&banks. For all these man made problems, the answer is "sustainable sanitary measures" i.e. swachh bharat movement. on the eve of this great mission's inauguration on october 2nd,  HBI IMA AP & Telengana extends clarion call to all hospitals- " Observe clean&green in your hospitals" ,which could be turning point for making our hospitals Swachh.

Excerpts of an open letter to MOH by Dr.Neeraj Nagpal

To Dr Anil Kumar CMO (AK) Nirman Bhawan  New Delhi Medicos legal action group  do not think CEA should be applicable to small and medium healthcare establishments (SMHCE) with less than 10 cr paid up capital in metropolitan cities and proportionately lower in tier I & II cities.  The standards proposed and displayed in nirman bhavan's website,if become notified will close Level I and Level II hospitals all over the country including all nursing homes, which are providing 70 % of the inpatient care in India.  This Act will only benefit corporate hospitals who as yet have less than 2 % penetration in the healthcare market in India. Registering all Clinical establishments is a noble idea.  F orcing small and medium healthcare establishments (SMHCE) to fullfill norms like 27 licences not even required by 100 bed Govt or 100 bed Ayush hospitals gives a glimpse of what is the real reason behind this Act.i.e. Inspector Raj will prevail .  Alread...

A journey from blue planet to Red planet....

A Big dream of ISRO. A desperate desire to excel in space missions. A proud moment for an Indian. Being an Indian,we need this push...timely shot in Armour. That is the Kick, every Indian dreams of..... With just 500 crores, which is a meager amount... less than the cost of an 8-lane flyover, the indian scientists made an "Orbiter" which is just like our car in weight &volume, to circle the red planet to explore the crucial data related to water, methane and other important issues. with single rocket motor, which is faithfully serving since 20years in 24 missions and 8 small thrusters,  ISRO made the satelite to escape from earth's  sphere of influence, which is first of its kind since 44years. its astonishing that this 67 crore Km ride to red planet  just costs us, Rs 7/- per Km, that is lesser than auto ride in our cities. IMA AP & TELENGANA Congratulate and extending Thanks to ISRO.

మన దేశం లో అత్యంత క్లిష్ట మైన వ్రుత్తి ఏది ? వైద్య వ్రుత్తి .  Exasperated, doctors say, ‘don’t treat us like a God, just treat us like a human being’. The fact that the number of students taking the medical exam has declined recently bears testimony to this harsh reality. why its difficult? poor working conditions and 24*7*365 emergencies, the need for specialisation and competition to keep oneself updated, COPRA hanging like sword of Damocles; the occupational hazards of acquiring infection and the brunt of mob violence. what a  horrendous  plight? is it that much difficult to become a doctor? Yes.  one shouldn't forget the hardship and turmoil faced  in becoming a doctor. One must not belittle the sacrifices of the young doctors and their parents.   hardships faced in the course of   becoming a doctor  demands great struggle during prime years of one’s youth for not so commensurate rewards in the end.  what is the object...

Medico-legal Tip of the day

Question – what are two most common mistakes committed by surgeons while taking consent in India? Answer -        1.   Taking a general consent at the time of admission                      2.  Taking consent from parents / spouse / children / relatives of an otherwise competent adult patient Moral- Take consent from patient if he is competent and ask relatives to sign as witness. General consent is not complete consent  for surgery. Take specific consent.

IMA drafting code of conduct for hospitals

The Medical Council of India has a code of ethics for doctors. Now IMA is drafting a self-regulatory code for hospitals that will deal with aspects like neglect of poor patients, preference for  generic drugs , and also preparation of a list of NGOs and philanthropists who can be relied on, to help patients. "A doctor must always ask three questions before taking a decision: First is it necessary. Second, will it bring  happiness  to the patient. Lastly, will it bring happiness to me. If the answer to any one of the questions is 'no', one should not perform the action."

problems&solutions

1. problem : every year India loses around 30 per cent of food production due to wastage and contamination. The solution -  unique solar-powered cold storage system which works at almost zero running cost.  Developed at the Science and Technology entrepreneurship Park (STEP) of IIT-Kharagpur.  Existing solar-powered units run on batteries which need to be replaced after 2-3 years making the running cost very high for farmers. 2. problem:   13.3 lakh under-5 children dying annually in india. solution:  Government today launched an action plan -" Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP)" to achieve by 2035 reduction in neonatal mortality rates to 10 or fewer per 1,000 live births and reduction in stillbirth rates to 10 or fewer per 1,000 total births.

Doctors and Criminal Law

The dawn of third millennium has seen many ups and downs in human relations. There have been many turbulent changes in the society. This has not spared even doctor-patient relationship. The rapid changes in the medical field have strained the age-old good relations between the patient and the treating physician or surgeon. Criminal law is applicable to all individuals and doctors are no exception to it. As far as medical practice is concerned patients or relatives usually don’t approach the police. But now-a-days this scenario is also changing. In last few decades as doctor patient relationship has deteriorated, the complaints against doctors have increased(1). According to the provisions of Indian Penal Code 1860 (IPC) any act of commission or omission is not a crime unless it is accompanied by a guilty mind (MENS REA). The acts are not punishable only because it led to some mischievous results unless associated with intention or mental attitude of the person. Most of the tim...
