The path to American license...

Foreign-trained physicians wanting to practice in the U.S. must seek certification from the ECFMG(Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). That includes passing two steps of the USMLE(U.S. Medical Licensing Examination).  Once certified, they must complete residency training at a U.S. institution, regardless of their years of experience abroad. Those wanting to specialize also must redo specialty training such as fellowships.  Many come to the U.S. hoping to re-enter medical practice but find the process difficult and take whatever jobs they can to support their families. So, is there any assistance in USA ? yes. " Welcome Back Initiative centers". Welcome Back Initiative: The program has nine centers nationwide that provide assistance to foreign-trained health professionals seeking credentials to work in the United States. Phytotherapy ? why usage of herbals as medicines raised even in developed countries?

Since 1990 the use of herbal medicines in the developed world has increased by almost 400% . Why are these products so alluring? And are they safe? as far as the human body is concerned, 'natural' is meaningless. Physiologically, the body cannot tell the difference between chemically synthesised vitamin C, say, and Vitamin C that has been extracted from an orange.  And, yes, using garlic ( Allium sativum ), ginger ( Zingiber officinale ) or ginseng ( Panax ginseng  or  P. quinquefolius ) in cooking is indeed, 'natural' but what's so natural about consuming the equivalent of several hundred or thousand times that amount in one go, as one does when taking some extract tablets? Majority people  claim  that herbal remedies are milder, gentler and safer, when compared to synthetic medicines." but the truth is,that the   side effects of alternative medicines are grossly under reported. In an age of choice, empowerment, convenience, and the erosion of unquestione

Because, you know, sexual abuse leads to risky sexual behavior  especially in boys.

Scientists Convert a Cell Phone Camera to a Fluorescent Microscope, Flow Cytometer

Flow cytometry is used for cell sorting, counting and biomarker detection, and is used for the diagnosis of several disorders, including hematological malignancies. Microscopes are used in multiple areas of the medical fields such as to identify pathogens, and examine tissue samples for aberrations, to name a few. Since microscopes and flow cytometers are both expensive and bulky, taking them into the field isn’t  practical. To sort this problem, a group of scientists from UCLA has developed an attachment to a regular cell phone that can turn it into a fluorescent microscope or fluorescent flow cytometer.

On behalf of Heart Care Foundation of India, Padmashri & Dr. BC Roy National Awardee, Dr. KK Aggarwal , President, Heart Care Foundation of India created a world record by training 11459 people in Hands Only CPR 10 in one day. CPR 10 is based on the mantra – “Within ten minutes of death (earlier the better) for the next at least ten minutes (longer the better), compress the centre of the chest of the victim with a speed of 10x10=100 per minute”. Prior to this event, Dr. Aggarwal on behalf of the foundation has trained more than 35000 people so far. The foundation was the first one to train 11459 people in one sitting. that over 24 lac people die in the country every year with sudden deaths and 18 lac of them die before reaching the hospital. 12 lac of them can be saved if CPR 10 can be taught to one percent of the society. which is the safest energy source for mankind?

The bottom line is that, even assuming pessimistic scenarios, the number of deaths caused by nuclear power is a minuscule fraction of those lives which were saved by nuclear power replacing fossil fuels. Remember, 1 crore people are thrown in to morbid state and half crore people are dying due to green house effect on climate due to coal & gas based generators. Apart from, wind, solar and biofuels, still nuclear power is cheap and safe.

In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court ( a bench of justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana Prakash Desa has)  rejected the plea of Swiss drugmaker Novartis to patent Glivec (  an altered version of something that had  already been in the market for many years) which  used to treat chronic myeloid leukemia( Over three lakh  people in India are said to be suffering from this form of cancer.)  thereby paving  the way for other manufacturers  to make and sell versions  of the  cheaper drugs so long as there is   no patent over a medicine. “The court has held, that the drug is not novel, not inventive and does not satisfy the requirements of section   3(d) (of the Indian Patent Law),” .
