With Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments expressing their willingness to do away with Article 371 (D) post bifurcation, 15 per cent of the medical seats in the government colleges in the two states are set to join the national pool. Once this decision is taken, students from the two Telugu states can have access to 15 per cent of medical seats in all the states in the country, except Jammu and Kashmir where Aricle 370 is applicable. what is  Article 371 (D)? In 1973, parliament enacted Article 371 (D) exempting the United Ap from the national pool in view of the special political conditions prevailing in the state. 

As  Ministry of health agrees to act on all five demands within six weeks, the proposed  IMA Satyagraha on 16 th   November is postponed  Dear Leaders Happy and Healthy Dewali National IMA has been perusing five community oriented demands for over a year. IMA had given a protest notice to Prime Minister, Union Health Minister, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Home Minister and Union Law Minister in reference to the Observation of a Protest Day/Satyagraha on  November 16th . IMA had also sent the copy of this letter to all the Members of Parliament on 1/11/2015. IMA stated a successful signature campaign on emedinexus, and the same was signed by over 50,000 members of IMA. IMA with emedinexus also organised an interactive webcast with Attorney General Mr Mukul Rohatgi on these issues. Attorney General suggested that for all the demands inter-ministerial coordination committee was required, involving health, home, consumer, law ministries along with MCI and IMA.

Tamil Nadu Medical Council to issue ‘smart’ certificates to doctors. Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) has taken a lead in curbing the menace of Quackery. It has decided to issue certificates to all doctors which carry an encryption. These certificates have to be displayed in doctors’ clinics along with the doctor’s photo, name, registration number and field of specialisation. MCI will issue standard prescription format for allopathic doctors to boost an accurate, uniform, standard and clear prescription for the sake of patient safety. The new format, prepared by MCI, is applicable for all doctors who practice allopathy in the country. MCI-affiliated doctors are expected to start using the new format from April onwards.  MCI is a statutory body having powers to suspend the license of a doctor who is found guilty of malpractice.  The new format will be made available on the website of MCI. This standard hard copy format is very much required for prescribing medicines in the interest of patient safety.  The format also offers the physician to write generic medicines based on the efficacy, affordability and availability of drugs. As per the new guidelines, allopathic doctors must write prescriptions legibly and in capital letters as well as furnish a complete and detailed prescription.  The physicians have to also mandatorily mention the patient&#

The original MCI Code of Ethics tells that doctors should not receive cash or gifts from pharmaceutical companies or any healthcare representative. Subsequently the doctors convicted were discharged after issuance of warning if they apologized. One and half year back a proposal was passed by MCI general body and ethics committee to define clear punishment for doctors accepting kickbacks as gifts, cash or travel facility etc from pharma companies. This was subsequently agreed by the union ministry of health and family welfare. The Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 was amended accordingly. Indian medical association conducted ground breaking ceremony-Bhoomi pooja- to construct its headquarters office in the recently acquired plot of 2000 sq.yds near chitti nagar,vijayawada.
