why our AP medical council should digitise and adopt IT?

Tamil Nadu Medical Council to issue ‘smart’ certificates to doctors.
Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) has taken a lead in curbing the menace of Quackery.
It has decided to issue certificates to all doctors which carry an encryption. These certificates have to be displayed in doctors’ clinics along with the doctor’s photo, name, registration number and field of specialisation.
Patients can use a mobile app to swipe the certificate using the Q Reader app or send an SMS with the doctor’s name and registration number to 56767 to check if the doctor is registered with the TNMC and ensure they are not quacks.
Detailed Guidelines: http://www.tnmedicalcouncil.org/nameboard.pdf
Steps:
  1. Download Application form
  2. Attach
    • Photocopy of Registration Certificate &
    • Adhar Card
    • DD in the name of “Registrar Tamil Nadu Medical Council, Payable at Chennai”.
  3. Send by post or in person.
  4. Board will be couriered to the address in their database.
My view:
  1. This is indeed a great step so as to keep the patient informed whether they are in safe hands or not.
  2. Other medical councils, ideally MCI, should implement it.
  3. It can help in curbing the quackery it seems.
