India's healthcare system...IMA demands Allocations up to 10% of GDP

Our govt.guarantees Freshly every citizen -food,essential medicines&universal health along with primary education  justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
how much it costs?
1.three-fourths of the country’s health budget goes into addressing PHC through the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). The country spent close to Rs 21,000 crore in 2012-13 alone.
2.National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) costs 22000 crores,
3. Free Essential Medicines  would cost the country Rs 28,560 crores.

Can the govt.run a primary care centre that caters to 150,000 people with a budget of  just Rs 12 lakh each year?
the naked truth and stark evidence to pilferage is that our Central government spends on average Rs 3 crore to run a single PHC.

  • Who are our our front line workers in public health?
  • how can we upskill the 8 Lac ASHA  Workers?
  • How to integrate primary health care and secondary health care which needs enormous per capita expenditure  up to Rs 2,000 from the existing Rs 750. ?
  • why still drugs share major portion of health expenditure?why can't the state manufacture medicines?

Health Expenditure?
For every rupee you spend, Rs 0.70 goes in buying drugs.
Indians now have a per capita income of $3,851.
What we should frame?
Treatment protocols and rationalisation of cost and fee structure,
what can be done?
In India, there are more than 165,000 primary and sub-care centers. These centers typically have no equipment and run on paramedical assistance with periodic access to doctors. These centers can be redeployed with a strategic plan including mobile, simple, and automated technologies as part of making healthcare more accessible across India.
Diseases and accidents precipitated by Life style, are major causes of  mortality (63%)

India:Total % of GDP spent on Health care: 4% ; of this private expenditure spent by citizens is 70%.
total per capita spent on health care: Rs.9000/- (of this govt.'s contribution is meager                                                Rs.2500/-).
Unless govt.raises allocations up to 10% of GDP,India can't be healthy nation.IMA strongly advises repeatedly to our govts, but its futile and fell on deaf ears.
