Standing up too quickly in the middle of the night can lead to a sudden blood pressure drop and a fall. Different blood pressure in right and left arms could signal trouble  -     People with an arm-to-arm difference of 15 points or more were twice as likely to have peripheral artery disease—essentially cholesterol-clogged arteries in the arms, legs, or other non-heart parts of the body. Older frail adults might benefit from slightly higher blood pressure , What is right for controlling blood pressure in a 50-year-old might not work for a frail 80-year-old.

Platelet distribution width: a simple, practical and specific marker of activity of coagulation. PDW, and not PC or MPV, as an independent predictor of all-cause and CV mortality. Platelet overactivation was frequently observed in CHF patients. Platelet overactivation may partly associate with the pathophysiology of adverse complications in CHF. TB, a notifiable disease since May 7, 2012  Early diagnosis and complete treatment of TB is the cornerstone of TB prevention and control strategy. Inappropriate diagnosis and irregular/incomplete treatment with anti–TB drugs may contribute to complications, disease spread and emergence of Drug Resistant TB.  So, it is essential to have complete information of all TB cases. NEET News :Supreme court throws the ball in to student's court for the time being!

NO STAY AGAINST NEET -UG & PG.     Final hearing on January 14 . Apex court allowed state govts & institutions to conduct old system of CETs but ordered to withhold the results until the final verdict probably before the pongal. The Supreme Court on Thursday ( 13-12-12 ), allowed private minority institutions, both religious and linguistic and other colleges to hold their own entrance tests for undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses but declined to stay the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for the academic year 2013-14.   IMA advises all INTERMEDIATE students to prepare both for NEET -UG & CET  exams. Those who have written NEET-PG online exam ,should write other exams if they want to.

NEET Update as on 11-12-12:

Several medical colleges( 76 colleges)  have moved the Supreme Court seeking exemption from NEET  on the ground that they are  religious or linguistic  minority institutions. These colleges claim  autonomy in administration of their educational institutions under Article 30 of the Constitution and their plea was  started hearing  on 11-12-2012,tuesday by  the supreme court bench. Flash back:   interim order:  the court had on 10th. October  allowed one institution (CMC,VELLORE) to receive applications for its own entrance examination for filling MBBS seats.   But after hearing Medical Council of India counsel Nidesh Gupta, the court had put a caveat saying this "will not entitle the respondent institution to claim any equity on the basis thereof". any how,  This interim order allowing minority education institutions to receive applications from candidates for an individual entrance test for filling their resp...

NEET NEWS : 11-12-12

TODAY, 11-12-12, SUPREME COURT may DELIVER ITS VERDICT ON NEET EXAM. NEET-PG Supreme Court Hearing Update : DEC 10,2012 MCI requested for vacating the stay given by High Court of Madras as they have to prepare the state wise merit list. Supreme Court refused to vacate the stay but MCI lawyer insisted for speedy disposal of the case as they have completed the exams and they are in process of making the selection list. Supreme court said that final directions will given after due consideration with regard to vacation of the stay. The next date of listing is 13th Dec 2012. NEET-PG -An over view:

The NEET-PG  came to an end on 6-12-12. Around 95,000 students were registered for the first ever national level test for PG medical courses. Prometric conducted the examination on behalf of NBE- National Board of Education, across 50 centres in 33 cities. The test was conducted online over 11 days between November 23 and December 6. Students are unhappy with the quality of  question  paper . It is the first computer based  entrance test  as far as common medical entrance tests in the country are concerned. The question pattern was  more factual than contextual. NEET PG 2013   exam  results   will be announced on  Jan 31, 2013 .Candidates can call the toll free number "NBE Candidate care" number 1800 11 1800, open from Monday to Friday between 9 AM to 5 PM.
