Can Indian EVMS be hacked?

Can Indian EVMS be hacked?  ( courtesy: Debapratim Ghosh -Assistant Prof. (Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar) gave his opinion as follows. I know the Indian EVM to a fair amount of detail through an ex-professor during my Ph.D days. Here goes: 1. The Indian EVM is not designed by a single person or group of persons from a single company. There are no foreign designers involved. In fact, the design is made by taking contributions from (a) the Election Commission of India (b) a Technical Experts Group (TEG) consisting of professors from IITs, IISc etc. and (c) Non-commercial public sector manufacturing units such as BEL (Bharat Electronics) and ECIL (Electronics Corp of India Ltd.). 2. Most EVMs around the world are essentially generic microcomputer systems which can do multiple functions or tasks. On the other hand, the Indian EVM can only be used for voting and nothing else. Hence there is only one single program that runs in it, and that is for voting only. So, introduci

Professional Indemnity Insurance .

Professional Indemnity insurance provides financial protection for doctors and hospitals in case of claims made by patients for perceived or actual negligence. It covers the doctor (indemnitee) from liability for financial losses incurred by patients. The insurance company (indemnitor) assumes the financial and legal responsibility for these claims. Doctors and hospitals face increasing financial liability from medical negligence lawsuits due to the Consumer Protection Act's consumer-biased provisions. A robust professional indemnity insurance is essential to protect them from financial ruin. The rise in negligence cases and the Act's liberal interpretation have made doctors more vulnerable, with compensations based on patient income rather than the severity of negligence. How good & effective is Arogya Sri Scheme ?

Addressing Deficiencies in Arogya Sri Scheme Management The Arogya Sri scheme in Andhra Pradesh has been instrumental in providing essential healthcare services to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. However, its implementation has faced numerous challenges that have hindered its effectiveness.  AP  state has  roughly 1.4cr  ration cards according to the department of consumer affairs, food and civil supplies. This, coupled with an increase in income limit of Rs 5 lakh, has brought almost 96 per cent of the people under the ambit of Aarogyasri, with 1.4 cr separate Aarogyasri cards issued currently.  One major issue is the irregular payment of claims to empaneled hospitals, leading to financial strain and delays in patient care. Furthermore, the process of obtaining and renewing empanelment involves excessive bureaucracy. Hospitals are required to navig
