Wing is a pocket-sized lung monitor

It has a sensor that works with a companion app to accurately measure two important lung functions: FEV1 (how much air you can exhale in one second) and Peak Flow (how fast you can exhale). It works on any iPhone 5 or later running iOS 8 (an Android app is in development)and plugs in via the headphone jack. It draws its power from the smartphone, so there’s no charging or batteries necessary and there are no moving parts. The accompanying app allows users to both monitor and collect readings. It may costs 150$ and be available in 2016.

HBI-IMA AP Science News:

1. Using an ingredient commonly found in toothpaste, the scientists believe they can spot danger areas in the arteries which point to a future risk of blood clots. They say it will allow patients to be targeted more effectively, and current treatments to be dispensed to those who will benefit most.   The technique involves injecting patients with sodium fluoride that has been tagged with a tiny amount of radioactive tracer, which then binds to any unstable calcium in the arteries. 2. Heart scans(CT Angios) may show who really needs statins. 3. Tumour tracers can be identified through the simple blood test. 4. As per the British Journal of Urology International, the average flaccid, pendulous penis is 9.16 cm (3.61 inches) in length; the average erect penis is 13.12 cm (5.16 inches) long. The corresponding girth measurements are 9.31 cm (3.66 inches) for a flaccid penis and 11.66 cm (4.59 inches) for an erect one. 5. Troponins presence in the blood is the most spe

Campbell and Omura discovered Avermectin, a new drug that "radically lowered" incidences of river blindness, lymphatic filariasis, as well as other parasitic diseases.they isolated strains of the Streptomyces bacteria from the soil samples and  analyzed for their activity against harmful microorganisms. Tu discovered Artemisinin, a drug that has significantly reduced the mortality rates for those suffering from  malaria . She extracted an active ingredient in the plant - Artemisinin - and purified it.  "The discoveries of Avermectin and Artemisinin have revolutionised therapy for patients suffering from devastating parasitic diseases.

Is it possible to influence gene expression?

Do you remeber that we have light sensitive proteins in our body? yes. we have photo-receptors' called as rods&cones' in our retina. like that, even green algae also has light sensitive protein "channel rhodopsin" on their cells mainly used for photosysnthesis. do you believe that our "gene expression' can be regulated by lasers?   If we can control the  gene expression it would be a great significance to biomedical research and clinical applications. B y a short flash of femtosecond-laser irradiation  applied to mesenchymal stem cells, expression of a differentiation  can be activated. is it possible to control the mind , by proteins sensitive to  Light? Yes. channelrhodopsin-2 ,a protein( comes from the green algae, which uses it to seek out sunlight for photosynthesis),  is  the magical switch that, in response to light, can  turn a gentle mouse aggressive ,  shut down obsessive grooming behavior , and  implant false memories in unsuspecting mi

Lab-on-a-Chip’ that cuts costs of lab tests for diseases.

you know what it is? its a "Lab on a chip"  dubbed also as  “ELISA-on-a-chip” (for enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay),which can analyse 32 samples at once and can measure widely varying concentrations of as many as six proteins in a sample. No need of large samples of blood or other fluids .No need of costly chemicals. No need of  trays of tubes or plastic plates.
