Over 3 lakh babies die on their first-day and overall,9 lakh babies die, annually in INDIA....

India has plenty of intelligence. india has abundant man-power. still,in india IMR is at 44 per 1000 live births (as per the government's 2011 Sample Registration System ). you know, IMR determines the socio-economic status of a state/country .MMR is still unacceptably high.  We record the highest number of maternal deaths in the world - 56,000 maternal deaths, every year.

so,what is the reason?
In india, strategic interventions are missing or inadequately implemented.
Where we have to be focussed?
the mantra should be "basic and inexpensive care has to reach the common man door steps".affordable technology can perhaps increase India’s mothers’ and babies’ chances of survival.
  • improving access to affordable medicines and timely life-saving interventions.
  •  Expanded neonatal and intrapartum care,
  •  management of diarrhoea and pneumonia, and
  • addition of new vaccines to immunisation programmes .
so,we have to provide in all 25000 PHCs country wide, infant warmers, phototherapy units and incubators and fetal monitoring devices. With such installations, nearly 309,000 babies can be saved annually.
